Assignment 1- Fave Five

I'm obviously a little behind, as taking care of 3 month old twins is a lot but here we go. I'm hoping to get caught up today.

My name is Dana and I am a photographer from DFW, Texas. So far I think I am more of a relator and a bit of a documentor as well.

This image was taken at one of the first weddings I shot. I knew the couple personally so I was able to get much closer to the subject without it being a disruption to the mood. I am so glad I was able to capture this little unplanned moment for them. It is so lovely seeing their little boy so happy since he had a full year leading up to this of nothing but surgeries and health issues. I also really love that the rest of the bridal party is framing the subjects and looking at them- this leads your eyes to the groom and his son in the middle.

I love this photo because I was able to document such a fun and playful family tradition. I’ve never seen someone do this at a wedding but this family does this at every wedding they go to. It was very on brand for the couple as they arevery spunky people.

This image is special to me because it feels very personal. Due to my continued connection and communication with both the couple and their immediate families, I was able to get this unplanned shot of the brides father. He is actually doing a toast in my direction- a natural movement that came from him due to the conversation we were having together.

I love this little moment because it feels very high end to me. Although it was not posed and is using direct flash, it feels very editiorial which brings me back to my roots with photography.

This unposed moment allows me to document and highlight the brides shoes and aspects of her dress without having to do a still life of these items specifically. I love unplanned and mildly chaotic detail photos and I think this does that perfectly while still giving off a feeling of elegance.

I love this photo because it highlights the couples grandparents in a very flattering way that makes them look both elegant and important. The overhead lighting is very flattering on them as well because it displays their age in a very soft way.
